CHANGING LIGHTING SYSTEM

Following the replacement (end of 2013 – beginning of 2014) of 2’000 lamps, replaced by LED lights, as well as hundreds of light and presence sensors, we were able to lower our electric consumption, eventhough we enlarged the building of 8’000m2.

PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT

We installed, end of 2012, a photovoltaic plant on our roof, which produces 500’000 kWh per year.

Heating cleanly and with neutral CO2 emissions (wood)

Our two boilers work from untreated wood-chips from forests in the region.
The combustion produces as many CO2 as a tree absorbs during its growth, its decomposition or when it’s burn, therefore a neutral production of CO2.
Regarding the fine particles, our biggest boiler (300 kW) traps them through a tunnel with multiple deposition chambers. It allows an optimal evacuation of particles, and the smoke of the boiler is clean when released in the atmosphere.

In other words, the emission and absorption of CO2 are balanced, thus no impact on the environment.

TYRE RECYCLING PROGRAM

Conscious of the importance of the environmental protection, we have been collecting used tyres among garage owners of the Geneva’s region, as well as recycling centers, for decades.

Used tyres are sorted according to their condition, that is:

A : placed on the second hand market. 2%

B : sold for a small price to other countries, where they are reused (all these tyres could legally be used in Swtzerland because they have more than 1,6 mm profile). 38%

C : used as fuel in the cement factory of Eclépens, which has the appropriate filters to prevent pollution in the atmosphere. 60%
